Crazy busy week around here, folks. Last week Tuesday, I did my first reading at Lady Jane’s Salon in Naperville, IL. If you’ve never heard of Lady Jane’s, it’s basically a monthly meeting for romance readers. The original Lady Jane’s is in Manhattan. A group of authors, usually 4-5 read from their current books. Last week, I had the honor of reading with Blythe Gifford, Tracey Devlyn (one of the Lady Jane co-founders) and Molly O’Keefe. And we give away prizes. How cool is that? Lady Jane’s in Naperville is hosted above Le Chocolat du Bouchard. Yeah, that’s right, a chocolate shop. What goes better with romance than some scrumptious chocolate?

Last Tuesday was a special day (in addition to being my first reading) because it was the one-year anniversary of Lady Jane’s Naperville. A group of authors pitched in to buy a Nook HD to give away in addition to the usual prizes. Plus, and this is really amazing, Comcast sent a TV crew out to interview each of the authors and record our readings to air on their Community Connection show.

Being interviewed was the hardest part of the evening. Between the blinding light in my face and feeling like an unprepared, babbling idiot, I couldn’t wait for the interview portion to be over. Luckily, they only use sound bites, so if I rambled, they’ll cut it. My reading went extremely well. Since it was my first time there, I read first. The audience was great and they laughed at all the right parts which made me feel good. Since I read first, I as able to really enjoy the other readings, which were excellent.

My best friend came to cheer me on (and throw something at me if I started to talk too fast) and between her and the other authors, I was able to grab a few photos:
