Kids Are Weird

I hope to be back to regular posting now that the haze of the blog tour is over. It feels good to get back into the swing of things.

My kids, like many, love music. The radio is always on in the car (and pretty often in the kitchen while I’m doing stuff). They have iPods and radios in their rooms. They all have favorites, so it wasn’t surprising when a while ago Shorty told me to turn up the radio because she LOVES this song: “Cruise” by Florida Georgia Line. I can’t blame her — it’s a catchy song. The kind that makes you want to turn the volume up and roll the windows down (except when it’s 15 degrees outside). Here’s the song in case you don’t know it:

See? Catchy. The weird part was when last week Shorty announced that “Cruise” would be her funeral song. I looked at her said, “What?” She responded, “I want this song played at my funeral. Who wants to hear slow sad songs? I want it to be a like a party.”

While I completely understand and even enjoy the sentiment of her choice, what 10-year old thinks about her own funeral? It’s weird.

What weird things have you heard from kids you know?
